Rearranging the post order

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 4 months ago

Ok

So - right now WP and vPIP collaborate to give us content in this order:

title, metadata, video, video buttons, post text

Here's a picture of it:

Now, IMO this stinks. Cheryl agrees, it stinks. I believe this is the #1 thing making our SIAB themes still feel like text blogs. The only reason the content is put on the page in this way is because this is how it comes out by default.

Comment by Milt - yes this first one stinks.  So bloggy. so industrial.

Now,

I know how to hack the php to get this result:

title, video, video buttons, post text, metadata

Pict:

And I do think that's better. But not much. It's hard to get excited about that.

What I want (and Cheryl too... ) is this:

video, video buttons, title, post text, metadata

Pict:

I think we would all like this better.

Comment by Milt: I really like the 3rd one, but if a person could do the 4th one with the text on the side, it would be even better.  I'm not sure

why people default to having an arrow in the middle of the poster picture - why not to the side a bit.  If you have a picture - you want it to look really

good - Lots of times I see pictures with an arrow right in the middle of someone's face.  not cool.

And, of course, once the content is in the right order -- the themers can work to make it prettier. We can use CSS to take that content and lay it out like this:

BUT - in my understanding of WP, this might be tricky. vPIP puts the video in the post -- and this last mock-up is asking for the "post" to be split up --

<div for this>POST (video)</div>

<div another one for this>

TITLE

POST (text)

</div>

Is this hard? Can we do it???

ALSO -- see how the video player buttons are smaller -- and the share button is on the same line??? That's another thing that would be better.

Comments??

    • I think it's doable. But I don't have time right now to look into Wordpress for feasibility. -- Enric
